How We Talk About Nutrition Matters
I felt called to make a YouTube video about my thoughts on nutrition and how we discuss it after talking to someone at their workplace.
Long story short, she works with some younger folks and was trying to tell them that what she viewed as overeating would catch up with them (from her experience).
I gently guided her to the idea that she may not know as much as she thinks she does about these people's habits, and if people are emotional eaters (which she shared someone was), we have to give them an outlet to process that, or they may need mental health support.
We love things to be as clear as mud, black and white. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. There is so much nuance when it comes to nutrition and nourishment, and we have to have bigger conversations around people's lived experience, social determinants of health, and their relationship to their body long-term.
Please check this out and let me know your thoughts (it's about 9 minutes long and has captions): https://youtu.be/fvJ0sS17srk?s...
